Who we are
The Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a student-led, leadership program. Our mission is to motivate young people to become better citizens. The JROTC curriculum teaches leadership, communication, self-awareness, first aid, conflict management, map reading, service learning/community service, physical training, government structure, and other topics, such as finance and business. JROTC also offers special teams/units such as Robotics, Flag Drill Team, Archery, Drum Corps, Exhibition Drill team, and more.
The Lincoln Battalion currently has over 200 cadets. We can be seen and heard in parades all over San Francisco. The battalion staff/leadership also organizes numerous events throughout the school year to create a strong community.
HISTORY
The JROTC program was created by U.S. Congress in 1916. The Mustang Battalion was established in 1940 when the school was founded. The Mustang Battalion is part of San Francisco JROTC Brigade. The program actively participates in local community events and school events such as parades, marathons, food/toy drives, school graduations, and school events. This battalion of students and Army Instructors provides an amazing leadership experience, putting JROTC cadets in roles where they have to take the initiative and to become role models for our upcoming generations.
